'Seismic and electromagnetic geo-physical exploration technologies are extremely dangerous weapons in our war on cetacea. Hundreds of exploration vessels are in operation globally at any given time, each of which is equipped with an array of ‘air-guns’ that can emit under-water sonic explosions on the order of 30,000 joules per blast…enough to deafen or kill any cetaceans or other marine life within a radius of many kilometres.'
SEISMIC TESTING technologies represent one-third of the triad of acoustic weapons systems with which industrial civiliazation is waging war on all life in the global ocean, along with maritime military activities, including weapons testing, 'war-games' and combat deployment and SONAR SYSTEMS used by all vessels including sail-boats.

The summation of on-going marine acoustic warfare can be approximated based on the known existence of 700+ seismic/hydrographic survey vessels; weapons systems on tens of thousands of military/naval vessels from hundreds of countries; and perhaps a staggering tens of millions of assorted sonar systems in use on every boat in existence, military and civilian.
A total estimate can be made of total anthropogenic acoustic energy being intentionally introduced into the global marine environment can be expressed as an average level distributed across the entire cubic volume of the global ocean expressed as joules or watts/cubic metre. This calculation is currently under way.
